Break The Silence

Break The Silence
Joseph Delli Gatti

Everybody seems to be doing fine;
Clean up your baggage and get into line.
Every-body is standing in line,
holding their tongues and doing their time.

One step, two step, follow the signs.
As I stand there I just want to…

Break the silence – imprisoning me,
break the silence with my screams,
break the silence and share my dreams,
break the silence so that I can be…

Can’t shake the notion out of my mind
that I might be falling behind.
I feel myself starting to unwind.
Everyone else is doing fine.

But now’s my chance to speak my mind.
I breathe in deep and then I…

…break the silence imprisoning me,
break the silence with my screams,
break the silence and share my dreams,
break the silence so that I can be free.

They try to keep us silent and keep us in line,
try to keep us marching to buy them some time –
keeping us equal and keeping us down –

down and silent.

But they can’t keep the silence imprisoning;
they can’t stop the guidance of a million dreams;
can’t keep everyone from breaking free.

Break the silence!

Our boots are pounding into new ground –
the drums and the guitar creating the new sound!
We won and we…

…will not be stopped!
